Afghanistan Endgame: U.S. and British Embassies prepare to evacuate

This video is about the United States and British withdrawing from Afghanistan.  After twenty years, the Taliban is closing in on Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.  Meanwhile, as the British and Americans prepare for final withdrawal, there is a delay in the processing of applications of those who helped during the war.  It is feared if they do not escape Afghanistan, they will be killed by the Taliban.

I don't really know the history of the Carter Family.  For all I know, they are related to Jimmy Carter.  But I like this song!  I first heard it in the film O Brother Where Art Thou?  when I saw the film in the theater.  But unfortunately, the film featured George Clooney who came out against Trump.  So, I put off listening to this song, until I saw the Carter version of it.  I know of June Carter- she married Johnny Cash!

The Storm Outside

 Today, I worked as a Courtesy clerk.  I worked from 10 PM to 5:45 PM.  I mostly gathered carts, did trashes on the Front End, and did returns, or go backs.  I had a lunch.  I used lunch to purchase a deli sandwich, a Dr. Pepper, and a pack of cigarettes.  Then, after that, a thunderstorm began.   At first the sky threatened rain.  Then, by 4:30 PM it began to rain.  Then, there was lightening and thunder.  According to my Dad it rained "3 inches" in North Texas.  There was more than one storm in the area. After I got off work, I came home and tried to let Max out.  But he did not want to go out.  I had to be patient with him.  So, I went ahead and let him stay in, prepared to clean the mess up.  But so far, Max has done fine. I made coffee.  I did not think much more of the storm.  I lay down while my coffee brewed.  As I lay down, I closed my eyes, but was awoken by a flash of lightening, an...
