Today not much happened. I just went and visited my Mom. The trip to Mom´s house was uneventful. While I was at Mom´s I ate a brief meal. We watched a movie about "The Blitz", Mrs. Miniver. Carol died because she got shot by one of the planes. It was very sad. Right before she gets shot a real German plane comes crashing down and burns in a nearby field. I remember watching the film when I was a kid. I thought she died in the car. But she actually died at the house. It was a Turner Classic Movie. But because of the setting, the film is unforgettable.
When I was in Afghanistan, I served with Canadians, English, and Dutch. So, that setting reminded me of the film. I always had thought of that film since I was stationed in Afghanistan. Now, at my Mom's house I watched the film. The film is both sad, but nostalgic for how the English lived during the Blitz. There was a scene that indicated how, even though they were being bombed, the English continued on with life. It was uplifting too.
